Celiac Disease Program

Eating is a big part of our lives. Learning that your child has celiac disease, and must avoid gluten, can be overwhelming. You are not alone. Celiac disease is the most commonly inherited autoimmune disorder, and it affects nearly one in every 100 persons. The multidisciplinary Celiac Disease Program that’s part of the Center for IBD and Celiac Disease at Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Children’s Health is one of a very few programs in the nation that cares for your whole child—medically, nutritionally, emotionally, and socially—empowering them to live their best life.

Why choose us for your child’s celiac disease care

Families from across the West come to us for our comprehensive, holistic, leading-edge care for pediatric patients with celiac disease. They choose us because we:

  • Offer holistic care from a cohesive, integrated team. With us, your child receives care from a large team of celiac disease experts. We are well-integrated as a comprehensive team, and we work toward the same goals to help your child with celiac disease heal and thrive. We put you, the patient and the family, at the center, and welcome you as an equal in our care decisions.
  • Provide cutting-edge, research-driven medical care. We offer advanced diagnostics and treatments for celiac disease, including integrative GI therapies. Our doctors conduct research to make exciting discoveries about celiac disease, which often translate to better care for your child.
  • Offer mental health support from experts in celiac disease. The stress of having celiac disease can affect your child’s well-being. We are one of a very few programs nationwide to have a mental health team to support our celiac disease patients and families. Our dedicated celiac psychologists and social workers offer individual and group psychosocial support, helping your child and family cope with celiac disease and find the resources you need.
  • Provide targeted nutritional guidance on a gluten-free diet. Our team of dietitians are celiac disease experts who deeply understand gluten-free eating and know how to tailor your child’s diet to fit your family’s preferences and ensure your child’s development and well-being. Our dietitians give your child and family one-on-one support to learn about the gluten-free diet; develop healthy, diverse food choices; and uncover possible hidden sources of gluten—even assessing your kitchen, if needed.
  • Connect your child and family to the celiac disease community. Through support groups and community events, we empower your child to connect with other kids who have celiac disease and you to find support among other parents to make daily living easier.
