My Approach

Families bringing their children to pediatric cardiology clinic often are fearful of what diagnosis will be made. At the first visit I try to put the cardiac concern in the proper context and clearly explain the findings and what the patient and family can anticipate going forward. I want patients and families to know that they have the entire team supporting them.

To the best of my ability I try to address the concerns of my patients and their families. When difficult decisions have to be made, I encourage in-depth discussion. I think that it is important to make sure that all the risks and benefits have been reviewed. I feel privileged to be an advocate for my patients and their families. My patients and families have taught me so much about having strength in the face of adversity.
