Stanford Federal Credit Union Donates $500,000 for Expansion

PALO ALTO, CA听鈥 Stanford Federal Credit Union, a long-time community partner and supporter of Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford, recently announced that its Board of Directors has approved a donation of $500,000 to help fund the hospital鈥檚 expansion. The donation will be disbursed over a five-year period.

鈥淪tanford FCU is honored to help expand the exceptional environment of care and innovation that is synonymous with Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital,鈥 says Joan Opp, President/CEO of Stanford FCU. 鈥淢any of the hospital鈥檚 employees are also Stanford FCU members, so this expansion will help ensure a brighter future鈥攂oth for employees and for the families in need of quality care.鈥

Stanford FCU has a long tradition of supporting local businesses and charitable community organizations, and Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford has been a beneficiary of that philosophy for many years. Beyond its generous donation for the planned expansion, the credit union supports a variety of the hospital鈥檚 fundraising events and family support programs. Last summer Stanford FCU was an official sponsor of the hospital鈥檚 largest community fundraising event, the Packard Summer Scamper. Furthermore, the credit union鈥檚 team of 30 participants was among the top five corporate teams in terms of dollars raised, which helped the event raise a final total of over $360,000 for the hospital.

In an ongoing collaboration with the hospital entitled 鈥淵ou Switch. We Donate. Kids Win,鈥 Stanford FCU also makes a donation to the hospital each time a hospital employee opens a new account and signs up for Stanford FCU services. To date, the program has generated over $18,000 in donations. In addition, as a long-time sponsor of the hospital鈥檚 Art Cart program, Stanford FCU provides hospitalized children with creative activities and much-needed diversions from medical treatments.
