PALO ALTO, Calif.听鈥 Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford has announced two important appointments to its executive leadership team.
Craig Albanese, MD, MBA,听chief of pediatric general surgery, has been named to the newly developed role of Vice President of Quality and Performance Improvement. In this role, Albanese will be responsible for and will oversee all quality and performance improvement programs and will also chair the hospital鈥檚 Performance Improvement Governance Committee.
Since joining Packard Children鈥檚 in 2002, Albanese has built one of the nation鈥檚 top听surgical teams听while serving as medical director of the听Ford Family Surgery Center听and leading several performance improvement and transformation projects. He is also professor of surgery and chief of the division of pediatric surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine. 鈥淐raig is not just an extraordinary surgeon, but also a dynamic teacher and administrator,鈥 said Christopher G. Dawes, president and CEO of Packard Children鈥檚. 鈥淭hrough his leadership, we鈥檒l be able to leverage the tools and approaches of both quality and performance improvement to further enhance our patient safety programs.鈥澨
Additionally, Kim Roberts, vice president for network development and management at Packard Children鈥檚, has been appointed to assume overall administrative responsibility for the hospital鈥檚 Faculty Practice Organization (FPO) and the development of the pediatric and obstetric physician foundation. In this expanded role, Roberts will continue the ongoing development of the FPO plus guide the growth and expansion of Packard鈥檚 ambulatory and outreach strategies for the communities the hospital serves.
Prior to joining the hospital in 2010, Roberts was chief financial officer and then chief executive officer of the Santa Clara Valley Hospital and Health Care System. Before, she was CFO at the UC-San Diego Medical Center. 鈥淜im has been an exceptional addition to our leadership team,鈥 said Dawes. 鈥淚n her newly expanded role, her extraordinary experience will be a tremendous asset as we expand our physician network to provide superior care and service to children and expectant mothers throughout our region.鈥
